Staying busy is often interpreted as a desirable behavior. After all, shouldn’t you spend most of your time “grinding,” and being productive? But, while work is a crucial part of most people’s lives, it definitely shouldn’t be the only thing in it.

Taking some time to rest is important for your physical and mental health, and don’t be surprised if you return to work more productive and with a fresh perspective after taking a short break.

Here are four ways to find time to rest in this world that’s all about staying busy.

Schedule It

If you’re totally dependent on your planner or calendar, perhaps it’s a good idea to put some “me” time on it, too. Make it a priority and put it on your calendar before you fill it in with all the other things you need to take care of.

Stay Away From Your Phone

Or at least mute all the sounds and notifications. With your phone constantly buzzing, it’s not surprising you’re stressed all the time. Not having it interrupt you all day long is a great way to rest and relax.

Delegate Duties

Don’t be afraid to ask for help and to delegate some of the things that need to be done. You’ll be surprised how many times people around you will be glad to help and you’ll feel a lot lighter without all that load to carry around.

Learn to Say No

‘No’ is a powerful word that we could all use a lot more. Give yourself permission to say no to things you don’t want to do and people you don’t want to spend time with and utilize that time towards resting and loving yourself.
