Why You Should Take a First Aid Class

There are a lot of things that we do to be responsible. Wear sunscreen to the beach; use a reusable water bottle instead of buying one-time plastic ones; use the buddy system at concerts; wear seatbelts in the car.

But there’s one type of safety that many of us tend to overlook, and it’s a real shame. We’re talking about first aid. Unfortunately, accidents and health issues happen all the time, but we’re rarely prepared. Few people keep a first aid kit around and even fewer would know what to do with one if the situation came up.

But the truth is that if you play a sport, go to the gym, do active outdoor activities like hiking and swimming, or simply exist in the world, you are liable for all sorts of accidents all the time, ranging from scrapes and bruises to more serious bone breaks and allergic reactions.

So if you’re prepared for something like getting your period in class or at work, shouldn’t you be prepared if somebody near you starts choking or falls during a hike? We certainly think so. That’s why it’s so worth it to go to a first aid class. It’s a few hours out of your life but it may save somebody else’s.
