Sugar is not just in cakes and cookies anymore. These days, companies are putting sugar in so many products it’s hard to keep track. Here is a list of foods to look out for if you’re avoiding sugar or trying to stay fit.

Canned Vegetables and Fruits

Some vegetables and most fruits naturally contain sugar. However, when they’re sent off to get canned, most times there is extra being sugar added to the solution inside the can. Canned food is a good alternative to people who cannot afford fresh produce, but it’s not worth the sugar high. Instead, buy frozen produce. It’s still cheaper than fresh but there is unlikely to be added sugar.

Ketchup

Although it’s odd to think about ketchup’s main ingredient after tomatoes are sugar, with a whopping 22g per 100g serving. For your next cookout, instead of reaching for the ketchup, grab a better alternative like mustard, hot sauce, or sriracha.
