The # NormalizeNormalBodies Movement is going Viral

The body positivity movement #normalizenormalbodies is taking the world by storm. Women are learning to embrace their shapes and shun the old ideas of what it means to be beautiful. Many brands, like Aerie, are helping this cause by using more diverse models and not re-touching the pictures.

Ashley Graham and Iskra Lawrence are changing the modeling industry by being authentic and unfiltered and still getting those major beauty contracts. Women are being encouraged to celebrate their bodies rather than feel ashamed.

This movement was founded by Mik Zazon, who wants to include all women in the conversation of body positivity — those who don’t fit the stereotypical label of ‘skinny’ but who aren’t ‘curvy’ either. Women who fall in the middle of these two labels and aren’t seeing their bodies represented in the media. She wants to talk about body image, self-acceptance and self love and bring this to all women.

The term ‘normal’ can be interpreted in many different ways, but Mik wants women to know that if they don’t fit into the plus-size, athletic, or skinny categories they still deserve to be a part of the body positivity movement.

Our bodies change so many times throughout our lives and this movement reminds women to show up as they are and they don’t have to fit into any mold.

Since the movement started over a year ago over 20k women have used the hashtag. These women use the platform to share their truth and use the opportunity for their voices to be heard.
