Sophrology is a form of “Dynamic Relaxation” which uses a combination of relaxation, breathing, meditation, gentle body movement and visualisation techniques to help you find your calm.

In just ten minutes a day, you can train your body to reach your zen spot using just your body and mind. An easy way to try the trend is to close your eyes and breathe in and out deeply. When you breathe in, tense up all your muscles as tightly as you can and then let them go as you exhale. This will help you to slow down your body and mind which is perfect for anyone who often finds themselves anxious or in a rush.

“If you’re feeling stressed, anxious, have difficulty sleeping or are burnt out, just one session of sophrology can help you feel calmer, more in control, relaxed and more able to let go,” says Dominique Antiglio, who founded “BeSophro” which teaches the practice. “The more you practise, the more results you get.”

Sophrology was developed in the 1960s, so it’s not just a passing wellness fad. The trend has been slow to hit but a little research or Dominique Antiglio’s book will help you harness its relaxation power.
