Achieve “Superfood” Effects Without Spending a Fortune

The good news is that more and more people are becoming aware of the importance of eating healthy. The bad news is that the food industry is using this fact to pump up the prices of healthy foods. Is there any way around this or are you stuck overpaying for the healthiest ingredients?

It’s not likely that the prices of popular “superfoods” are going to drop anytime soon. Luckily, they have alternatives that are just as healthy but much more affordable.

Instead of dreading that you can’t afford matcha powder, spirulina, goji berries, and other fancy ingredients and turning to fast food instead, try a different approach.

Eat Seasonal Food

Superfood might be healthy, but that doesn’t mean you can’t eat other foods that are just as healthy and nutritious. Instead of matcha powder, eat green vegetables. The cost of quinoa may add up if you’re cooking for the family, so go with rice, millet, and other grains.

Don’t buy overpriced little packages at specialized stores; go to the farmer’s market and pick local and seasonal food! As long as your plate contains plenty of colors and textures, you don’t have to worry about supplementing with superfoods.
