Your Makeup Brush Guide

Having a hard time identifying different kinds of makeup brushes and its uses? To keep things simple, here’s a beginner’s guide to brushes: how to use them and how to tell the difference between them.

Powder Brush

A large and fluffy brush used to evenly diffuse the powder onto your face. You can use it for loose or pressed powder, and, because of its rounded shape, it is good for blending colors.

Round Buffing Brush

A round, domed shape brush with densely packed bristles. Can be used to blend liquid or powder foundation. This brush will give you a flawless, even and perfectly blended finish.

Angled Blush Brush

This tapered and angled end brush gives you a more precise shading. This is best to use for more controlled contouring and in applying your blush, bronzer and highlighter. Its unique shape will define your cheek bones and other features.

Blush Brush

A medium sized brush with soft bristles that will easier to blend. This can be used to apply cheek color and to easily blend out the shade.

Flat Concealer Brush 

A thin, flat and squared-end type of brush for your liquid foundation. The flat end gives you a more detailed blending on your contour areas. This brush helps create perfect lines for touch-ups around the dark circles of your eyes.

Concealer Brush

Used to pinpoint specific areas because of its soft, flat and rounded end shape. This is also used to conceal blemishes and imperfections of your face, and cleans up the lines of your lipstick and brow edges.

Stippling Brush

Use this brush to achieve a soft and airbrushed effect in applying your foundation. Its long and flexible bristles give a sheer finish of your powder. This can also be used to dust on your final powder.

Fan Brush

A fan-shaped brush with soft, flat and flexible bristles. Its shape is the best tool to sweep on your highlighter or bronzer after applying your contour. This can also brush off any excess product of your powder or eye shadow fallout.
