Painting on pottery is a pretty popular way to decorate your clay and ceramic objects, but one man is taking things to a whole new level by carving pottery and revealing all the amazing colors that hide underneath.
Sean Forest Roberts attracted over 360,000 followers to his Instagram page @forestceramicco with his colored porcelain designs. He came up with a way to take the art of pottery to a whole new level by carving multi-layered ceramics and creating intricate new designs along the way.
Roberts discussed his latest creative endeavor with Bored Panda and described the process of creating carved pottery. He calls it “slipcasting” and revealed it takes him about a week to create each piece since it’s usually a 10-step process that requires time and patience.
Well, the patience really paid off since we can’t stop starring at his carved designs. Roberts is still sharing his colored pottery with the world, but he’s always open to exploring new techniques and materials, and we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
