]]>Now is the time to watch as many movies as you physically can. Not just holiday movies, though—catch up on everything you never had the time for. Think of all the social situations where you just wanted to go home and enjoy a movie and some snacks —you can do that now and not feel guilty about it!
You absolutely can spend a whole day in pajamas, do your nails, take a long bath, and do everything else that makes you feel cozy! In fact, there will never be a more perfect time for that than right now.
Unless you absolutely hate cooking, trying new recipes, and then enjoying the food you made will make you feel so good! There’s nobody to judge your choices and nobody to eat the leftovers you wanted for yourself!

]]>We’ve all been there—filled our plate at holiday parties with all of the dishes. Just because you’re eating healthier doesn’t mean you can’t try everything. When you make your plate, for rich foods, keep the portions smaller and load up on vegetables and green salads.
Sticking to a workout routine during the holidays is really difficult, so instead of worrying about it, just move as much as you can. Walk whenever you have the choice between walking and driving.
Even though you may not be in control of what you eat outside of your house, you can make better choices while at home. Stock your home with wholesome foods like fruits and veggies, so when you’re stressed you eat those instead of junk food.
It’s common to confused hunger with thirst, so next time you feel hungry, drink a cup of water. To make your water more exciting, add fresh fruit to it.
Adults should be getting seven to nine hours a sleep a night. When you don’t sleep enough, the hormones that signal when you’re hungry are negatively affected making you more likely to crave sugary foods and to snack.

]]>A holiday vacation is a perfect time to relax and catch up on your sleep. The best way to improve mood and boost your energy levels is to rest and get enough quality sleep every night.
Staying active and exercising on a regular basis is the best way to take care of mental health this holiday season, considering that we’re going to spend more time at home this winter. Even if you don’t like to work out, try to stay active by dancing to your favorite music, jumping rope, or simply by walking more.
We all love to use holidays to spend more time with our loved ones, but don’t forget to make time for yourself and your hobbies. Reading a book, taking a bath, or writing a diary can all help keep your emotions in check during holidays.

“We are thrilled that through our new partnership with Marquee TV audiences everywhere will now have the opportunity to experience the beauty and magic of this treasured classic in the comfort and safety of their own homes during what continues to be a very challenging year,” said Jonathan Stafford, the Artistic Director of NYCB and SAB, in a statement, as reported by Real Simple.
The streaming event will be available on Marquee TV for nearly a month—from December 11th, 2020 to January 3rd, 2021. Tickets start at $25 in the U.S. but prices vary internationally.

]]>Yet, as adults, we don’t tend to write gift wishlists anymore. Instead, we let people get things for us that they think we’d like. After all, it’s nice to get a thoughtful surprise from your loved ones. And you don’t want to seem greedy by asking for something in particular. So it goes; no more Christmas lists.
But we think a case can be made for making a wishlist for the holidays no matter your age. Here’s why.
So in 2020, let’s start normalizing Christmas lists for adults, shall we?

There’s no limit to what you can do with a DIY ugly sweater, but here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing.
For this project, you’ll only need a sweater/vest, scissors, hot glue, needle, thread, and a variety of Christmas decorations.
This project by Bethany is a true classic.

]]>When you’re feeling lonely, connect with your family. While you may be sick of video calls, they’re a great way to get everyone involved. Other ways to connect include picking up the phone and writing letters.
Volunteering in person is more difficult, but there are tons of opportunities online. You can donate to a cause that’s important to you, offer your talents to a nonprofit organization, or fundraise by sending emails or writing letters.
In the beginning, working from home seemed like a real treat, but now it has become isolating. While many companies have started doing virtual and video conferencing, it’s not the same as being with your coworkers in the office. Reconnect with your coworkers through virtual happy hours or phone calls.
Try the new creative activity you’ve been putting off like taking pictures or learning to knit. Creative activities will boost your mood and social relationships.

]]>It may be the perfect time to cook that meal you’ve always wanted to try, but never had the time. When you’re spending the holiday alone, you don’t need to make compromises with anyone about the food, so have fun and make your favorite things.
If you’re unable to spend Thanksgiving with family this year, perhaps you can gather with them on a video call, at least for a few hours. A virtual dinner together and catching up will have to do until next year.
If you want, you can choose to completely ignore the holiday and spend the day however you want. Takeout and movies? Why not! Everything is allowed this year and there’ll be plenty of opportunities for proper Thanksgiving celebrations.

]]>Getting dressed up is one of the most fun things to do during the holidays. A Hawaiian theme allows everyone to feel like they are on a mini-vacation. All of your virtual party goers can wear Hawaiian shirts, sip on Mai Tais, and create tropical backgrounds with palm fronds waving in the virtual sun.
This is a theme that most holiday parties have. Thrift stores are still open in most parts of the world and they are the best place to find that sequined, woolen treasure. Everybody can don their ugliest holiday sweater and compete virtually to see who has the worst one.
The celebrity theme is one of the hardest ones, and it will take a lot of preparation for everyone who wants to participate. Everyone can be an impersonator for the night, some great choices are Elvis, Britney Spears, and Prince.

]]>Remember that you have total control over where your money goes and spend it on brands you believe in. These can be locally run shops or anything else that makes you feel like you’re making a difference. Also, there’s no need to spend too much—it’s the thought that counts.
Once you decide to get your seasonal gifts at small businesses, remember that they typically don’t have the same capacity as big chains so shop early before they sell out. Have realistic expectations about shipping and other details and plan to shop ahead of time.
Gifts don’t necessarily have to be new. In fact, when you know a person really well, you can make an effort to thrift a first edition of their favorite book or a vintage fashion piece they will wear for years. Just keep an open mind and have fun shopping!
