Relaxing DIY Aromatherapy Pillow

After a long, stressful day, there are many ways to unwind. One technique is called aromatherapy, which is a healing practice that uses scents from plants or flowers to soothe your body and mind. Combining this practice with a soft object like a pillow is a match made in heaven. Although you can find these pillows at many health stores, making it at home is so simple and rewarding, and makes for a great present as well.

Tools

All you need for this project is an old pair of socks, regular, not instant rice, and an essential oil of your choice. To enclose the sock you can either use fabric glue or sew it if you have a knack for it.

Steps

  1. Stir together the oil of your choice with into the rice
  2. Use a funnel to put the rice in the sock
  3. Enclose the sock by sewing or applying fabric glue

Uses

First, pop your pillow into the microwave for about 30 seconds to heat it gently while releasing the scent of the oil. Then, you can put it anywhere that feels comfortable on your body. Over the eyes can be very soothing, or leaving it on your neck or back to release tension in your muscles.
