Knowing a second language is, of course, an advantage to most employers, both in and out of the US. For example, most companies in Miami deal with so many Spanish speaking clients that Spanish is spoken as much or more than English at any given time.

Applications like duolingo is a great tool to keep practicing. Another way is to watch your favorite tv show in English with subtitles of whatever language you are learning.
