One of the biggest appeals of coming to New York during the holidays is getting to see the massive Christmas tree that’s on display throughout the season at Rockefeller Center. However, be warned that if you do want to see it, prepare to be in an extremely large crowd that begins several blocks before you even see the tree. If you’re really jazzed about seeing it, the best time of day would be to go as early as possible to beat the crowds.
Department Stores
Something fun that a lot of people don’t think about doing over the holidays is going through the fancy department stores throughout the city and looking at their window displays. Places like Lord and Taylor, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and more will have elaborate and stunning displays that usually tell some sort of narrative, and overall, it’s really beautiful.

Another place to check out in New York is all the hotel lobbies that will be extremely decorated! Even if you’re not staying at a hotel, there’s nothing stopping you from popping into some fancy hotels and looking at their holiday display.
