Many of us are currently considering doing some home projects we never had time for. If you’re thinking of planting a herb garden so you can have fresh herbs for cooking, here are the first steps you should take.

Location

Picking the right location for your herb pots is one of the crucial things you need to do. Most herbs will thrive in full sun as long as the temperature doesn’t go above 90 degrees F in the summer. If you believe they will be too hot, plan to put the herbs somewhere where they can get morning and afternoon sun.

Soil

It’s important to prepare the soil for your new herbs. Use a garden fork to loosen it so water can drain better and plants can grow roots freely. Add some compost and mix it into the soil to help fertilize the plants and prevent drainage problems.

Containers

Pick the containers that have enough space for your plants to grow. If you can, plant the herbs outside in the ground, as they will love it even more. But don’t worry about it too much; herbs are pretty easy to grow and will soon provide you with some fresh leaves that will make your meals delicious!
