Delicious Street Food to Try in Israel

Israel is the melting pot of cultures from the Middle East, North Africa, Eastern Europe, and beyond. Because of this, the cuisine is unique, diverse, and completely delicious. If you want to get an idea of what the food is like, you need to try as much as you can. Here is a short list of food you absolutely must try.

This dish is made with meat that is cut and stacked on a spit. It’s then shaved off and put in a pita with a variety of toppings and salads.


This pastry originated in Turkey but has been completely adopted by Israeli society. It can be filled with anything from soft cheese to mashed potatoes and more.


This Iraqi dish is made with eggplant, boiled egg, and lots of salads. It also usually comes with different sauces than other types of pita, likeĀ falafel and schwarma, including one called amba, a pickled mango condiment.
