A spectacular red carpet is an essential part of the Academy Awards, and it introduced us to some pretty amazing fashion trends this year. From dramatic metallic gowns to edgy dresses with structured details, here are five trends from the Oscars we’ll be seeing everywhere pretty soon.

Black With a Twist

Many stars at the Oscars hit the red carpet in black dresses but managed to put a fun and edgy twist on this timeless trend. Margot Robbie, Carey Mulligan, Sandra Hüller, Eva Longoria, and Camila Alves are a case in point.

Dazzling Metallics

This year’s Academy Awards gave us many dazzling looks, courtesy of America Ferrera, Anya Taylor-Joy, Zendaya, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Lupita Nyong’o, who hit the red carpet in spectacular metallic gowns.

Structured Designs

From shoulder pads to peplum skirts, many dresses at the Oscars featured interesting structured details, including the ones worn by Emma Stone, Ariana Grande, Sandra Hüller, Florence Pugh, and Eva Longoria.

Mermaid Fever

Dresses with mermaid-inspired designs, in shades of seafoam green and blue were all the rage at this ceremony. Lupita Nyong’o, Emma Stone, Hailee Steinfeld, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Florence Pugh helped this rising trend make a splash at the Oscars.

Barbiecore Vibes

Barbie was one of the major contenders at this year’s Academy Awards, and several stars honored it by wearing pink, including Zendaya, Ariana Grande, and America Ferrera.
