Check Out the Menswear Knitwear Label Women are Loving

Judy Turner’s collection is officially known as menswear, but women have been enjoying it just as much as men. Designer Colney Averett creates the softest pullovers and chunky knit sweaters in bright colors and mesmerizing patterns.

Averett has previously worked on knitwear for Khaite, Brock Collection, and Creatures of the Wind before he launched his brand Judy Turner, which is named after Judy Garland and Lana Turner, just over a year ago. Averett told Vogue he became interested in knitwear because, “It’s genderless, without you having to specify that. And it’s malleable and flexible, and different people with different identities can wear it. You can style it in ways that you can’t with woven and stiff cuts.”

His spring 2020 collection is influenced by American vacations and Old Hollywood actresses. The clothes are bright with lots of stripes in reds, greens, and yellows and they would look just as good on a man as on a woman. One of his bolder designs was inspired by an Amazon Prime documentary of Ava Gardner and it features a silver shirt and shorts set. Averett used a photo of the brocade top Gardner was wearing and scanned it to form the basis for a stitch pattern.

What do you think of the Judy Turner collection? Would you wear any of the pieces?
