Isamaya Ffrench is a British makeup artist and probably one of the most successful fashion makeup artists in the industry. Ffrench always knew she would end up doing something creative, the only question was what?
“There was never a doubt that I wouldn’t end up in the creative industries. Initially, I explored a few routes—dancing, product design, acting and then finally makeup and I feel like my work reflects all of those elements in a way… which feels creatively satisfying” she told Forbes.
Ffrench’s career began when she started painting children’s faces at birthday parties on the weekends. She then moved to London and started working with photographer Matthew Stone. Now she’s one of the most sought-after makeup artists in the world and she’s taking the fashion industry by storm.
At only 29, this British artist has already worked with celebrities such as Kate Moss, Rihanna, and Mert and Marcus and the brands M.A.C Cosmetics, Junya Watanabe, Chloé, and others.
“I’m just not solely interested in exploring what we are commercially fed as ‘beautiful’. I have my own instincts about beauty and what moves me and that’s what I pursue.”
