We’ve all heard the terms body positivity, body confidence, self-love, and body-acceptance, but how many of us actually live by these saying? It’s so easy to be negative about our appearances and perhaps with New Years just around the corner, we can start treating our bodies with the love they deserve. If you need more inspiration, these celebrities have been opening up about their journeys of accepting themselves.

Lauren Ash

Let’s follow in the Superstore star’s New Year’s resolution to be more body positive. In an interview with US Weekly Ash said, “I just made a choice. My New Year’s resolution this year was to not speak negatively about my body to myself or to anyone else. It’s really been a mindset that’s been really positive for me, and I think that as women, especially, we’re very hard on ourselves. Trying to change that narrative and focusing on the things that you like is a really powerful tool.”

Demi Lovato

Part of the reason we love Lovato is her honesty about her mental health issues. The “Confident” singer said, “We hear the term body positivity all the time. To be honest, I don’t always feel positive about my body. Sometimes I do not like what I see. I don’t sit there and dwell on it. I also don’t lie to myself…All I have to say is ‘I’m healthy.’ In that statement, I express gratitude. I am grateful for my strength and things I can do with my body. I am saying I’m healthy and I accept the way my body is today without changing anything,” at the Teen Vogue Summit.

Sarah Hyland

We appreciate how open the Modern Family actress has been about her health conditions and how she has learned to live with them. Sarah Hyland posted a paparazzi photo that she used to hate to show her fans how she’s dealt with her insecurities after undergoing health procedures, “To my fellow #invisibleillness warriors. It’s ok to be insecure about your body. Just remember to check in with yourself at least once a day and say thank you. Our bodies have endured unfathomable feats that our minds barely have time to comprehend what has actually happened.”
