Different lipstick colors tend to match different shapes of lips. Are you using the type that is right for you? Here is a short guide that will help you figure it out.
Full Lips
If you have full and sensual lips, you can give up the use of a liner. Dark colors that draw attention to the lips will be great.
This lips
If you have thin lips, avoid dark-colored lipsticks, as these may only accentuate the shape. Instead, choose lipsticks in light shades that add volume and highlight the lips.
Unflattering Edges
If your lips are very thin or have unflattering edges, a great way to blur them is to combine two similar shades. For example, apply a thick liner in the lighter shade and fill in the lips in the darker shade. This will emphasize the center of the lips.
Heart-shaped
If your lips are heart-shaped, like those of Taylor Swift, for example, emphasize them first with a liner. If they are very thick, any shade of lipstick will compliment you (even the dark ones), but if they are not thick enough—it is advisable to avoid shades that are too dark and go for beige or nude shades.
