Your Guide For Applying Press-On Nails That Will Last

We’re seeing nail art all over every red carpet award show and on the Instagram of beauty influencers. But, nail art requires long nails and many of us don’t have the time to wait for our nails to grow out. Luckily, press-on nails allow you to experiment with fun nail designs and patterns. Here are the ways to make your press-ons last and look as close to real nails as possible.

Size Matters

Most brands have numbers on the back of the press-ons to help you find the right size. The edges of the press-ons should lay flat against the edges of your natural nails. If you’re between sizes, it’s best to size up and file along the edges of your natural nail to achieve the right fit.

Prep Work

Just like you prep your nails before painting them, press-ons require some work prior to the application. Make sure you pull back your cuticles and dehydrate your nails with alcohol or nail polish remover before applying the press-ons.

Applications

Press-ons come with either double-sided tape or glue and which one you use depends on how long you want your nails to last. If you plan on changing up your nails frequently, double-sided tape will last you about a day. For looks that you want to stay longer, glue lasts up to two weeks.

Be Careful

You can’t expect to wash dishes and for your nails to last. If you’re washing dishes use gloves and try to avoid getting your nails wet. When possible, use hand sanitizer instead of water when washing your hands.
