Watermelon, mangoes, strawberries, peaches, pineapple, kiwi – you could say we miss summer fruits. But, fear not, winter fruits are just as delicious, you just have to give them a try. There are so many winter fruits and probably many that you haven’t heard of or come across before. These are the ones you should be trying.
Pomelo
If you like grapefruits but aren’t a fan of the bitterness, pomelos are your fruit. They are the largest citrus fruit and they can easily be used in any recipe that calls for grapefruits. Try switching out lemons with pomelos to make amazing pomelo bars, a new take on lemon bars.
Quince
This isn’t one of those fruits you eat raw. When it’s cooked it tastes like a mix between an apple and a pear. These are amazing when baked – think stuffed baked apples.
Pomegranate
This fruit that’s high in antioxidants and fiber adds the perfect crunch and sweetness to any salad. They also don’t go bad quickly, so you can store them in your fridge for a couple of months or enjoy them as a juice for breakfast.
Persimmon
Not to be confused with an unripe tomato, these aren’t as sweet as other fruits and we prefer ones that are slightly harder. They work so well in salads and they won’t fall apart when they are mixed with greens.
