Nothing completes an outfit like the perfect pair of heels. Whether they are stilettos or kitten heels, shoes have the ability to effortlessly elevate the look (and you). But, as most people know all too well, wearing heels for hours can start to hurt. These hacks should keep you walking tall.

Size Matters

This may seem obvious, but getting the right size shoe can make a world of difference. With different manufacturers, you may find that you are a size 7 in one pair and a size 9 in another. It’s also a good idea to go shoe shopping at the end of the day once your feet are already swollen.

Practise Makes Perfect

If there is a pair of heels that you’ve bought for a special occasion, make a point of wearing them beforehand. Practice walking around your home in the shoes while wearing socks to break them in. Stilettos and pajamas may make it to the runway yet.

Bye-Bye Blisters

News flash: deodorant has more uses than keeping your pits dry! Rubbing some of the stuff on the back and sides of your foot will give slip and prevent friction which can cause blisters. If you do find yourself with little sores, however, soak your feet in warm water with Epsom salts for 10 minutes.

Time for Tape

Marie Helvin wore a ton of heels during her time as a model during the ‘70s and ‘80s. Her trick for keeping comfortable? Tape your third and fourth toes together using medical tape. This apparently keeps your foot aligned and takes the pressure off the ball of the foot.
