Vertical Forests – Solution to City Pollution?

Climate change is a real danger to life on our planet, and scientists have been warning us about this for decades. All around the world, scientists, artists, architects, engineers, inventors and visionaries are proving that we should care about nature more, but the way we organize our lives is simply not allowing that.

One of the ideas of combating pollution in cities comes in the shape of “forested” buildings, overgrown in greenery which rises up and makes an inseparable part of the building. The idea was started in Milan, Italy represents the perfect coexistence between architecture and ecology.

“Vertical forests” is architect Stefan Boer’s project. It became a reality in 2014 with two first buildings. He used a well-known design technique – to build up, rather than around, especially in the limited space.

The concept has expanded around the world. Such buildings can now be found in many Chinese cities, for example. See how they look like in the gallery we’ve prepared below.
