This year’s BAFTA Awards gave us many amazing red carpet trends. If we had to pick our absolute favorite, velvet dresses would make the cut. This lavish fabric reigned supreme at the BAFTAs red carpet, and here are five stars who couldn’t resist it.

Naomi Campbell

We can count on Campbell to always be the first person to embrace rising fashion trends, and she was one of the stars to put velvet dresses on the map at the BAFTAs.

Caitriona Balfe

Black velvet dresses were all the rage at the BAFTAs, and Balfe embraced this trend in her simple, yet stylish Armani Prive dress with long, pointy sleeves.

Millie Bobby Brown

The Stranger Things star attended her first BAFTAs this year, and she wore a black Louis Vuitton gown with velvet top and sheer, lace skirt, and finished the look with a matching pair of opera gloves.

Salma Hayek

In a sea of black velvet gowns, Hayek decided to do something a little bit different and knocked us off our feet with her purple gothic Gucci dress with lacy details.

Lady Gaga

Hayek’s House of Gucci co-star also gave velvet her seal of approval. Lady Gaga brought Old Hollywood glamour to the red carpet in a velvet Ralph Lauren dress with a dramatic dark-green silk train.
