Writing can be a powerful mental health tool. The simple act of dumping your thoughts on a piece of paper and not having to deal with them anymore is one of the best things you can do to stay sane.
If you’re new at this and not sure what to do, start with writing down a bunch of lists. Depending on what’s occupying your mind at the moment, you can make some of the following lists:
- Chores to do
- Books to read
- Movies to watch
- Trips to take
- Food to cook
Be creative and think of your own, too, then start filling them up. As you categorize your thoughts and put them on appropriate lists, you’ll give your brain room to “breath” and to focus on one thing at a time.
It’s worth a try!
