TONY’S 2019 THANK YOU for the LOVE! It means so much!!! It was an amazing night filled with excitement and joy. The men of Choir Boy DANCED!!! So proud!!! It was very special to share it with my mom- who introduced me to theater when I was 4 years old! She got crazy camera time too!!! Congratulations to all the nominees and winners! Shouting out my peeps! @andre_deshields @jasonmichaelwebb @rachel.chavkin @fitzpatton Sergio Trujillo @egoconcepts @clintramos @derrick.baskin @jeremypope @ephsykes @domorisseau INSPIRED BY YOUR WORK! I have always loved theater but had doubts about whether or not I could have a voice because there were so few reflections of myself in the role of Choreographer. Lifting up @joydances8 and Dianne McIyntre who have guided me through this journey and who are pillars for all of us. Lifting up every Black female choreographer that has contributed to the world of theater. The middle space between visibility and invisibility is real. We must always show up for ourselves and the people who paved the way through exhaustion, fear, and perseverance. THANK YOU to my community!!! I can’t do any of this without you. Special shout out to Associate Choreogrpaher Rickey Tripp aka “My G”, and @divinegoodwine who helped me build and sustain my company while supporting my efforts to have a career in theater. It’s definitely a challenge to balance, and seems impossible at times, but when community has you, anything is possible.
