All you ladies with natural hair, listen up. Your hair needs extra-special care to look its best, so check out these experts tips.
Avoid products containing alcohol
If you use styling products that contain alcohol, chances are your curls will end up feeling crunchy. Instead, use water-soluble gels, mousses or foams to give volume and control to smooth curls.
Wash your hair gently
Your hair is delicate and needs to be washed gently. Be careful not to over-manipulate your hair when washing, and use a gentle shampoo that won’t strip the hair of natural oils.
Don’t try conditioner-only washing
Some people think that ditching shampoo in favor of using conditioner only is a good way to keep hair moisturized. But the truth is that this technique causes product build up and dry, brittle hair.
Use a diffuser
The best way of drying natural, curly hair is to let it air dry, but we don’t always have the time. For fabulous curls, use a diffuser on your hairdryer and put it on a low setting. This will ensure even, full curls. Before drying, apply a heat-protecting product. Turn your head upside down and use the diffuser at the roots and mid-lengths. Dry the ends last, leaving them still damp.
