Whether you’re looking for a new place to live or a city to visit for vacation, public transportation is really important if you don’t have a car! Even if you do own a car, it’s so great to be in a place that has an awesome transit system so you don’t have to rely on it all the time.
Washington, D.C.
The nation’s capital might not have the most extensive metro line, but it’s the fastest in the country! That means that when you get around it won’t be super crowded and you probably won’t have to wait very long for a bus or train to come. The only drawback is that transit is pretty expensive, which is a bummer.
San Francisco, California
San Francisco has many different transit lines, including cable cars that run throughout the city, so you can not only get to the place you need to go, but do it in a really unique, historic way! There is also the BART train line which goes to neighboring cities and suburbs, as well as local city buses.
Boston, Massachusetts
Surprisingly, Boston has one of the best transit systems in the country, even though it’s actually a pretty small city in population. The subway system called the T has quite a few underground lines as well as buses that also reach to all the neighboring college towns.
