The Vegan Nutella of Your Dreams

Nutella is everyone’s favorite to spread on toast, mix into desserts, and especially on crepes. But, it isn’t necessarily the healthiest thing to eat and it’s not vegan. Luckily, you can make it at home and it can be much more healthy than what you can buy in the store, all you need is a food processor and you can make the vegan Nutella of your dreams.

Ingredients

What gives Nutella it’s unique flavor is the addition of hazelnuts. The amp up the flavor, roast them yourself before you put them in with the rest of the ingredients.

Method

  1. After roasting the hazelnuts, put them in a paper towel and rub them so the skins come off. Try to get as much skin off as possible as it makes the nuts slightly bitter.
  2. Then, put the nuts in a high-speed blender or food processor until they come out like butter.
  3. Then, add all the other ingredients in at one time to the machine: vanilla extract, cocoa powder, maple syrup or agave, salt, and the non-dairy milk of your choice. You can also add just a bit of oil if you find the mixture not as smooth as you’d like.
