Dry January, a time when we skip alcohol after the large quantities we’ve drunk over the holiday season, has been around for a while. The recent trend among millennials is not drinking alcoholic beverages at all. Non-alcoholic beverages are expected to gain popularity in the coming years.

Booze-free drinks happen to be one of the top 10 food trends for 2020. So what explains this rise in non-alcoholic drinks? There’s been an increase in young people’s attention to health, flavor, and nutrition, instead of drinking to get drunk. The movement has even inspired the hashtag #sobercurious.

Millennials have taken to Instagram to share their stories and we were inspired by @jessicagreenoh’s post, “Today I am more mindful, I live with a sense of gratitude, I take my life one day at a time. I’ve never felt better physically, emotionally, mentally. I actually like myself most days which is kind of astonishing.”

What do you think of this trend? Is it something you’d be willing to try?
