When it’s too hot to cook, you need an easy snack that you can grab and eat. The combination of fruit and cheese is perfect for a substantial and fairly healthy mini-meal. It’s both sweet and salty, has fiber and vitamins from the fruit and protein from the cheese, and refreshing and filling all at once. Here are some of the best options.

Sliced Cheddar and Apple

This is a classic combination, it’s easy and clean to eat. Just some slices of cheddar layered with some sliced apple is delicious and satisfying. Other hard and semi-hard cheeses will be yummy too, like gruyere, gouda, or manchego.

Cottage Cheese and Fruit

An underrated but healthy option is any kind of fruit mixed into cottage cheese. Especially good are berries or sliced melon. You can also use jam or preserves for some extra sweetness. Use cottage cheese with a higher fat content for a richer treat.
