The Benefits of Taking a Road Trip By Yourself

We all have times where what we need most is a chance to spend some one-on-one time with ourselves. One great way to get away is to hit the open road. While taking a road trip with friends can be a great bonding experience, taking one by yourself can be an amazing and meaningful experience for many reasons.

Finding Direction

Just as you’ll need to find your way literally, navigating on your own can also help you find your way figuratively. If you use the time to yourself for self-reflection, you can get to know yourself in new ways and even set some goals for yourself.

Trusting Yourself

Going out on your own can be scary, but that’s what makes it worthwhile. Learning to do everything on your own over multiple days–driving, reading maps, planning your route, etc.–can teach you to trust your own judgment and can build your overall confidence.

No Disagreements

Making all the decisions can be really fun! You get to choose the route, the music, and the bathroom break schedule. There will be no fights and you’ll always get your way. Go ahead and stop at every roadside attraction or none of them; it’s totally up to you.

No Judgment

With no one else around, you can sing as loud as you want and eat as many snacks as you like. You can be gross or super clean, and no one can do anything about it! Out on the road alone, you don’t have to perform for anyone–which means you can simply be yourself.
