Contrary to what Kesha says, not everybody wakes up in the morning feeling like P Diddy. In fact, the majority of Americans don’t feel rested after that alarm clock beeps. As sleep is vital for our well-being, here are some things you can do to feel alert when it’s time to start your day.
Get Moving
The secret to a restful night’s sleep actually begins the day before. Engaging in some physical activity will help you sleep better, which, in turn, will make you feel more refreshed when you wake up.
Get a Little More Shut Eye
We hope you’re getting a solid eight to nine hours of sleep a night, but adding a tad more can actually be extremely beneficial. Go to sleep 30 minutes earlier or wake up half an hour later and see what a difference it makes.
The Most Important Meal of the Day
If you’re not giving breakfast the respect it deserves, now’s the time to start. A good breakfast will keep you going for the rest of the day, so make it nutritious. Avoid food that is high in sugar or an excessive amount of protein as this can reduce alertness.
