]]>Start by going on walks or running errands without your pet. Mix things up and vary your pattern so your pet doesn’t pick up on departure cues like the sound of keys or putting shoes on, and get anxiety from you leaving. Try not to get them all hyped up when you leave or come back.
Have a crate available for your dog so when they get anxious, they have a space they can go to. For cats, they like quiet, dark spaces, that are remote from the busy areas of the home. Cats like areas that they can have all for themselves.
Keep your pets occupied when you’re away with feeding puzzles, special treats, and toys.
If your pet is showing anxiety by barking, engaging in destructive behavior, urinating, or over-grooming, don’t punish them. Instead speak to your vet for recommendations.

]]>It’s no wonder you’re feeling like you’re stuck in an endless loop if you’re wearing your PJs every day. Dressing up may seem like a waste of time, but it can put a smile on your face and make you more productive.
If your job requires a lot of sitting, you should try adding some physical activity to your schedule. Going for a walk or doing light exercise in the middle of the day can be beneficial for your body and mind.
There will come a moment when your productivity level hits zero, and you should put it to some good use. If waiting for motivation to come back isn’t working, go grocery shopping or clean your house instead of just sitting around and scrolling through social media.
Any attempt at trying new activities can have the power to shake up your work from home routine, even if it’s just starting an art journal, taking care of houseplants, or working on a DIY project.

Your neck and back will hurt more if you tilt forward as you work. That’s why it’s crucial for the monitor not to be set too low or too far away from your eyes.
A good chair makes it easier to keep good posture as you work. Your back should be straight, feet firm on the ground, and arms comfortably on the desk.

]]>Of course, the global pandemic only adds stress and doesn’t help the overall situation, so here’s one important thing you need to do every day for mental health.
Taking mental health breaks is important but often overlooked. Between work and taking care of the home (and kids if you have them), it seems like there’s less time than ever to take breaks if you want to stay productive.
One thing you shouldn’t do is make mental health just another thing on your to-do list. That’s not the way to stay healthy in the long run and you need to truly understand why taking breaks is important and in what ways you can best use them. Some people enjoy taking a nap, others go out for a walk, and some like to call a dear person.
Disconnecting from work and your desk space several times per day or as often as you need it will make you more productive and happier in the long run.

]]>If possible, move your desk closer to a window and let some natural light in. The days are shorter now and it may already be dark outside by the time you’re finished with work, so make the most out of the nice fall days by setting your workstation against the window and enjoying the view.
Your desk should always be neat and the color scheme for your office should be soothing so that it doesn’t put additional stress on you. In order to achieve the best effect, pick natural, light colors like shades of wood, dusky pink, and light green.
Plants can make any space look better and you’ll feel much more comfortable in a home office decorated with a houseplant or two. A hint of nature where you need it most will lower your stress levels and make the environment more pleasant to work in.

Tables are an amazing organizational tool. You can use them for many different things and your planner will always look neat and be easy to follow.
It’s important to know which tasks are priorities and to make sure they are done before everything else. This means you won’t just write down everything as a list, but have a way to distinguish priorities from the rest of the tasks.
If you have tasks that repeat monthly, weekly, or daily, put them in your planner so you won’t have to think about them all the time.

]]>When working from home, it’s hard to shake the feelings of stress and anxiety after the work day is finished. To combat this, try creating transition activities like taking a shower, going for a walk, running an errand, or prepping food for dinner.
It’s hard to unplug when you’re overwhelmed or anxious about things that you still need to do. Set out expectations in relation to your workday hours and the tasks you hope to achieve each day. If possible, try and work the same hours you did while you went into the office.
When possible, try and separate your office space and living space. Try and designate a room in your house where work is not possible.
In the evening, try and only do activities that don’t require a screen and put your phone on “Do Not Disturb” mode so you can be distraction free.

]]>Instead of wearing neutrals, try and throw on a fun print or bold color that you love. You’ll feel more like yourself in no time.
Wear items of clothing that help you feel professional, but are still comfortable. Look for items with more stretch, looser fabrics, or oversized options.
Throw on that pair of earrings or scarf that makes you feel confident, even if you’re just staying at home all day.
We all have items of clothing that are nice or fancy, that we usually reserve for special occasions. You may never have an occasion to wear them, so instead of letting them sit in the back of your closet, go ahead and throw them on!

]]>Establishing a proper work-life balance is one of the most difficult things about working from home. It’s so easy to start doing other stuff during work hours and thinking that you’ll make up for it in the evening, only to lose yourself completely within a few days or weeks. When you’re working from home, nobody can see if you’ve spent your work hours productively or not, so many of us tend to do “just a little bit more” to prove that we’re not slacking off.
But working from the moment you wake up until you have to go to bed in the evening is not good for anything—not your productivity and not your physical and mental health.
Make sure to take regular breaks to stop stress from accumulating, especially if you have a long workday in front of you. Having a daily routine can also help a lot. This can be something you do before you start the work and after you finish for the day so there’s some kind of boundary between personal and private time. For example, you can start by making yourself a drink and finish by cleaning up your desk.

]]>One of the problems you may face now is how to look presentable on video calls, when you have a sudden meeting and you didn’t put makeup on, or just in general when you want to talk to someone without actually spending half an hour on makeup. Here are our best tips.
Natural light is your best friend. The window should be placed behind the camera for the best effect. If you can’t do that, it’s best to set up a lamp so the light bounces off a wall.
Filters can be a lifesaver when you have an urgent meeting and you didn’t do your makeup. Many apps allow you to slightly filter the way you look for this purpose. Zoom, for example, offers the “touch up my face” option, plus you get to apply a background filter if your room is a mess!
You don’t have to do much here, just make sure your hair is clean whenever possible. When that’s not the case, you can use some dry shampoo to give it volume and style it slightly.
