]]>When temperatures hit the highs, the last thing you feel like is being touched—and that includes clothing. Feel free to strip down to the bare essentials (ahem) when home alone. When amongst people, breathable fabrics like linen and cotton are your best friends.
There’s nothing quite like having a cold glass of water when you’re overheating. It is super important to keep hydrated (especially when it’s hot) but you don’t have to stop there when it comes to consuming cold things. Frozen berries, pineapple, and grapes can all do the trick—and don’t forget about a scoop of ice cream.
One of the quickest ways of cooling down is by placing a cold compress on your head. It is as simple as wetting a cloth and holding it against your forehead. If you prefer something even cooler, grab some frozen peas out of the freezer and wrap them in a towel.

]]>The post Why Summer Isn’t the Best Time to Get Tattoos and Piercings appeared first on My Daily Magazine - Art, Design, DIY, Fashion and Beauty !.
]]>First, new tattoos are very sensitive to the sun, which means you have to be able to completely avoid the sun if you get one on a visible part of your body. When they’re healing, you also can’t put sunscreen on them, so the only option is total avoidance, which is pretty dang hard in the sunny summer.
Beyond that, new tattoos and piercings have to be kept out of water – swimming pools, oceans, seas, etc. – until they’re completely healed. For tattoos, that’ll take around two to four weeks, which isn’t that bad, but with piercings, that healing time is much longer: from three months on the low side up to a full year.
So unless you’re okay with missing out on all water activities during your summer, it’s best to abstain from getting tattoos and piercings in the summertime, as hard as it is.
But on the plus side? This forces you to wait on your new tattoo and piercing ideas, meaning that by the time you get around to actually doing them, you can feel more confident that you really want them.

There’s just something relaxing about spending time at the beach soaking up the sun, enjoying your favorite book. Put down your phone and let the story take you in.
Your favorite pair of sandals will take you from day to night. Make sure they are super comfortable because you will want to be able to explore.
Sunscreen is a must if you want to protect your skin — don’t let a few sun-soaked days, ruin your skin that you have been taking care of the rest of the year.
Again, a hat’s primary purpose is to protect your face and hair, but there are so many gorgeous hats that you won’t want to take it off even when the day is over.

]]>Staying cool during the day is less of a challenge. You can refresh by drinking water and wearing loose clothes, but when the nighttime comes, it gets a bit more tricky. Opening the windows will let the noise (and mosquitos) in, but sweating through the night is definitely not acceptable. The solution may be drinking a warm beverage before bed.
The idea can seem weird at first. When you’re hot, your instincts tell you to drink something cold to cool down, right? Turns out, drinking something hot in the evening is actually the key if you want to survive summer heatwaves. This was backed up by Ollie Jay, a University of Ottawa researcher who conducted a series of experiments to see what effect hot drinks have on body temperature. He and his team discovered that hot beverages result in “a lower amount of heat stored inside your body,” and can help cool you down. Now that you know that, try it yourself!

]]>However, there are definitely some big things you should and should not do during the summer, and these are some of the top ones.
No matter where you are, what time of day it is, if you step outside in summer, you need to wear sunscreen. Even if it’s just on your face, you should never be in contact with the hot summer sun without it.
A lot of people spend more money in the summer because there are more activities to do, places and people to see, and excuses to go out. But, just because the weather is warmer doesn’t mean you should blow through all your cash by going on elaborate trips or fancy dinners.
You can still have fun with friends and family doing cost-efficient, low key events like backyard bashes and picnics.
Even though summer only comes around once a year, don’t be afraid to turn down people to have a night in relaxing. Though you should push yourself to try new things and be social, don’t forget to still take care of yourself and your body.

]]>Falling asleep and getting REM sleep is more difficult when you’re overheated. Before you head to bed, turn down the air conditioner and use a lighter blanket during the summer months.
With the days longer and the sun setting later, your circadian rhythm can be thrown off making it hard to fall asleep and get a good night’s sleep. Prepare for daylight’s savings time by going to bed and waking up a half-hour earlier than usual leading up to the time change.
The warmer months bring on a whole new set of seasonal allergies which make it difficult to breathe and sleep well. Talk to your doctor about allergy medication and make some changes around your home like sleeping with the window closed to relieve your symptoms.
When you’re on vacation you want to use all hours of the day to explore new things, but while you’re doing this you’re interrupting your sleep. Waking up for a sunrise yoga retreat or staying up all night to star gaze affects your sleep, especially if you’re in a country with a different time zone. While on vacation, try your best to maintain your normal sleep schedule to make the transition back into your daily life easier.
