If you’ve ever faced this problem, you know that ingrown nails can pretty much ruin your life. Around 20% of the population suffers from it at some point in their lives, so it’s time to finally learn how to prevent and cure ingrown nails.

Ingrown nails develop when a nail starts growing into the skin. This can be very painful and cause additional problems, such as an infection. We’ve gathered the most effective remedies below. They are most effective when combined and applied regularly.

Sea Salt Bath

Sea salt bath has an anti-inflammatory effect and prevents infections. Simply mix 2 tbsp of sea salt with some water and soak your feet for 15-20 minutes.

Apple Vinegar

Apple vinegar has similar benefits as sea salt, so you can create a concentrated remedy by soaking a cotton pad and leaving it on the problematic area of your nail.

You can apply a band-aid over it to have it stay in place and leave overnight.

Turmeric and Mustard Remedy

Mix a tsp of turmeric and a tsp of mustard, apply to the infected area, cover with a cotton pad and fixate with a band-aid. Leave on for a few hours.

Cut Your Nails Properly

After you’ve cured the ingrown nail, make sure it will never happen again by trimming it straight, so the edges can’t grow into the skin.

Also, wear comfortable shoes that are not too tight on your feet!
