According to numerous reports, Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook left a grandiose $8,000 tip for the housekeepers of the Grand Floridian hotel, where he resided during his time in the NBA bubble this season.

In an interview with Bleacher Report, Westbrook confirmed the legitimacy of the story, explaining that his actions were a show of gratitude.

“They took great care of us. Took the time and energy to do their job at a high level. That was the right thing. I like to do the right thing.” Westbrook explained.

According to Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News, Westbrook left his hotel room in pristine condition. This falls in line with Westbrook’s reputation for being a “neat freak”.

While he did not confirm the exact amount of the tip, this form of charitable act has become something of a routine for Westbrook.

Thanks to his involvement in charitable efforts and community upliftment, Westbrook won the NBA Cares Community Assist Award in the 2014/15 season.

Some of his charitable efforts include raising money for his Why Not? Foundation, aimed at providing children with the education and support they need to achieve their goals.
