Rethink The Ways You Use Herbs

Most people have it in their minds that herbs only belong in a few places; an accompaniment to some savory dishes and nothing else. However, there is so much more you can do with herbs! Experiment with these herb combinations and prepared to be amazing.

Basil

Basil is essential to most Italian dishes, but don’t stop there! Basil is a great herb to be used in a sweet application. Try making a strawberry sauce with basil and see how the flavors really sing. Pour it over sponge cake or vanilla ice cream and you will never look at basil the same.

Thyme

Thyme’s earthy woody flavor is traditionally only utilized in soups, sauces, or roasts. But this herb can be so much more than just something you pull out at the end of the cooking process! Use thyme in a lemon and thyme tea bread! The tanginess of the lemon and the slight mintiness of the thyme come together perfectly in this sweet bread.

Rosemary

Rosemary is a woody, fragrant herb that pairs naturally with most proteins. Few people know that it is also an amazing addition to many alcoholic beverages! Whether you are making a winter gin and tonic or adding it to mulled wine, the flavor of rosemary is a perfect compliment.
