Questions to Ask When Decluttering Your Shoe Collection

When decluttering your closet, don’t forget to look at the bottom of the closet at your shoes. Your shoe collection needs decluttering too!

Evaluate your shoes by putting them into groups according to the season or occasion they are worn for, and asking yourself these questions:

Are they in good condition?

Shoes inevitably wear out or break. Before you get rid of such shoes (especially if they’re your favorites), find out if they can be repaired.

But don’t fall into the trap of paying more for repairs than you would for replacements.

Do they fit?

Don’t assume that shoes that fitted 4 years ago will still fit. Try them on. If they don’t fit properly, they need to go.

Are they fashionable?

Some shoes are timeless, others are part of a fad. Hold on to the classics but be ruthless with those shoes you KNOW will never come back into fashion.

Do they fit into your lifestyle?

Look at your shoes ask yourself: are these shoes useful to you? If you left a corporate job for an outdoor job, do you really need 20 pairs of high heels?
