Mark Ronson is Giving Us Serious ’30s Vibes With His Hollywood Home

Celebrity homes are always a home décor marvel, but Mark Ronson is taking things to a whole new level with his Los Angeles residence. The Uptown Funk creator puts a playful spin on Hollywood glam with his retro home.

When house-hunting in Los Angeles, musician-producer @iammarkronson fell for a spacious and secluded Spanish Revival 1930s hideaway. Upon purchasing the home, Ronson turned to his friend of 30 years interior designer Mandolyna Theodoracopulos (@mandolynat) to help translate his visual tears and design-speak shorthand into the precise pieces and textiles he would love to live with. “I really loved the house that me and my ex-wife [French actress and singer Joséphine de La Baume] had in London,” says Ronson. "We bought it from this woman, Celia Birtwell, who was a muse to David Hockney. She actually designed a lot of the fabrics and stuff that you would see in the background of his work. He painted her a lot, too.” In the living room, two chairs on either side of the couch are recovered loveseats that, decades ago, sat in the lobby of New York’s iconic San Remo where Ronson and his family had lived when he was a kid. The chandelier, a stainless-steel fixture with a dozen orange velour lampshades, is from @harrods department store in London. “I was walking through, shopping for a wedding present for my sister. I saw that, and was like, Oh!,” recalls Ronson. “I am fairly impulsive. Six to eight weeks later, it’s in your house.” Take a tour of the home via the link in our profile. Ronson’s 1930s-era Spanish Revival-style estate is all about vivid and vibrant colors, bright wallpapers, and vintage furnishings. It has four bedrooms, a two-story guesthouse, Edenic gardens, and a pool area, and it’s easy to imagine him writing his future chart-topping hits inside these walls.

Decorating his LA crash pad didn’t give Ronson any trouble, since he had a clear vision from the very start – and a lot of help from interior designer Mandolyna Theodoracopulos.

“I knew what I wanted already. There was no master plan. We’d be in a restaurant and see a finish on a coffee table, and we’d be like, ‘Write that down. Let’s go look it up and see what that is.’ It was pretty simple – but there was always a lot of detail,” said Mark Ronson in an interview with Architectural Digest.
