Maple Brown Sugar Cookies Are Perfect Fall Treats

Fall is the perfect time for cookie baking, and this recipe will definitely be one of your favorites this season. Sally McKenney’s maple brown sugar cookies are crispy on the outside but soft on the inside and when topped with maple icing they’re even more irresistible. Ingredients

  • 2 and 1/3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Maple Icing

  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup sifted confectioners’ sugar
  • pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Whisk the dry ingredients together.
  2. Cream the butter and brown sugar together using a hand mixer
  3. Add one egg, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and maple extract.
  4. Mix dry and wet ingredients together.
  5. Add the pecans, then leave the dough in the fridge for about 2 hours.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare parchment paper.
  7. Make small cookie balls from about 1.5 tablespoons dough.
  8.  Bake cookies for about 13 minutes.
