This season’s Stanley Cup champions Tampa Bay Lightning decided to celebrate their cup triumph by enjoying a boat parade around the Hillsborough River, located on the coastline of Tampa.

Plenty of Lightning stars, such as Alex Klllorn and Steven Stamkos even arrived in their own boats to join the procession.

“Who does a boat parade?” Stamkos said. “That is amazing. I think that’s the first time ever. It is so cool to be a part of. This is something you remember forever.”

By the time the procession reached the Tampa Bay Convention Center, the docks were packed with jubilant fans, who enjoyed watching Lightning players take turns to lift up the coveted Stanley Cup trophy.

“A lot of us came home not knowing what to expect, especially with COVID-19,” defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk explained. “Today made it feel real … that we won the Stanley Cup, and we were able to see how special it was for the people of Tampa. This was so special, I had tears in my eyes all day.”

“The Cup is so important to us,” forward Brayden Point said. “This was our end goal and our dream. A lot of guys went through a lot to get the Cup.”
