The keto diet is a low carb diet, where the body produces ketones in the liver to be used as energy. Apart from giving you more energy and more even blood sugar levels, the ketogenic diet can help you lose weight, but only if you follow a calorie-restricted eating plan.

This high-fat, low-carb diet can help you lose weight if you remove all fruit except for avocados for the first month, and slowly reintroduce low-carb fruits. In terms of fat, choose high-quality foods such as wild-caught fish, coconut oil, and free-range chicken and eggs.

The keto diet is great for weight loss because it stops sugar cravings, which allows you to lose weight more easily. When your body enters the state of ketosis, it uses the ketones that are formed when fat is broken down instead of glucose for energy.

At first, you tend to lose water weight, but once the body gets used to using fat for energy, it can start to burn stored body fat for daily energy.

Make sure you don’t eat too much protein or it will prevent ketosis from taking place. It is fat that needs to be the body’s primary source of fuel, not protein. Ketosis can take a few months to happen, so be patient.
