Food safety is now more important than ever during the pandemic, and there are some basic rules that’ll help you hand food safely. Check out and remember these important healthy habits that are often overlooked.

Check Your Fridge Temperature

Temperatures between 40 °F and 140 °F are perfect for bacterial growth, so check that your fridge is working properly every once in a while. Fridge temperature should be at or below 40 °F to keep the food safe.

Cleaning Tools

We often forget that the cleaning tools in our kitchen, like sponges and dishrags, are actually one of the dirtiest things in our house. They’re an ideal breeding ground for bacteria, so make sure to clean and replace them on a regular basis.

Wash Reusable Bags

It’s great that you’re using eco-friendly grocery bags, but make sure to wash them after every use or at least once a week in order to prevent the spread of bacteria.

Don’t Leave Food Out Too Long

This one is a bit obvious, yet most people forget to properly store food such as cooked meals, sliced fruits and veggies, or leftovers. Make sure to store these safely in the fridge and don’t leave them on the kitchen counter for too long.
