Italy’s giants Juventus finds new no.9 in Spanish striker Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid. Although the team was linked to Luis Suarez and Edin Dzeko in the past couple of weeks, the ended up signing Morata.

The news of a season-long deal was confirmed by the team on Tuesday. The loan will cost $11.7 million but the club could make it permanent with an additional $52 million.

Morata spent two seasons with Juve, in 2014-2016, and made 93 appearances with the club, scoring 27 goals. He was part of the squad that won two consecutive Seria A titles.

“There’s nothing more exciting than a homecoming, and the return of Alvaro Morata to Turin is a beautiful one at that!“ an official announcement by the team reads. “Memory albums are there to be opened, to reminisce upon old moments, but also to add new ones, and we can’t wait to create many more memories, together once more!”

Juve, who said goodbye to Gonzalo Higuain earlier this month, was left without a striker. After agreeing to sign Uruguay’s Suarez from Barca, issues started to surface and the deal was off. They then turned to Dzeko but the move never materialized.

Since leaving Juventus, Alvaro Morata spent one season with his boyhood club Real Madrid before embarking on stints with Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.
