Is It Really That Bad If You Keep Falling Asleep in Front of the TV?

Falling asleep in front of your favorite Netflix show is a habit that can be hard to break. But how bad is it really? If you’ve been thinking about giving up your nightly TV sessions, here’s what you should know about them.

TV Light

Your body is pretty good at following the patterns of light and darkness that naturally occur throughout the day. When it gets dark, your body starts releasing hormones that make you sleepy as a signal that you should go to bed and get some rest. Exposure to artificial light can mess with this. Big time. It will be more difficult for you to fall asleep, and if that’s not enough, your sleep quality will be affected by the working TV if you didn’t turn it off.

Sound

Not all sounds are bad for your sleep, but sounds that come from the TV are something you should avoid. Instead, you can choose something soothing like ambient sounds, white noise, or even a podcast, as long as its volume is not too high.
