Karnik attracted 163,000 followers to her Instagram page and worked with clients from all around the world, but it all started as a simple passion project. She started typography series, creating individual letters using paper, but wasn’t even halfway through the alphabet when people started taking notice.

This project provided her with an opportunity to combine her passions for 3D illustration and paper sculpturing into one. She always saw the world of paper as vast and magical, and this art form made it possible for her to explore its limitless possibilities and create unique artworks.

It was also important for Karnik to do something completely new. She committed to it full-time after majoring in typography and broke new grounds on her own.

“When you think of creating with paper, it’s always considered to be for gifts. Quilling is something that you learn in a hobby class; no one really thought of taking it to the next level. I wanted to break that barrier,” the artist told Verve Magazine.
