How to Wear the Western Trend

Did you see the Doritos Cool Ranch Super Bowl Commercial featuring Lil Nas X and Sam Elliot? Besides hearing our favorite Summer 2019 jam, “Old Town Road,” we loved the western fashion we saw in the commercial. The trend was seen all over runways and Instagram last year and cowboy boots, prairie dresses, and fringe are here to stay! Here’s how to wear the western-inspired items in everyday life.

Cowboy Boots

No western-look is complete without cowboy boots. Even Gigi Hadid has stepped into this trend with her tie-die cowboy boots. Expect to see an upgrade to this classic with metallics, bright colors, and cool textiles.

Fringe

Fringe is another western staple, but we’re seeing it on the red carpet with fringe beading, rhinestones, and metallics. If you’re looking for some inspiration check out Kacey Musgraves’ Instagram.

Praire Dresses

If you’re looking for a more girly look, prairie dresses still have the western feel. They’re also great for the warmer months because they’re flowy and breathable. Just throw on some cowboy boots to complete the look.

Cow Print

Animal print is always trendy and cow print is a bit different from the usual leopard, zebra, and cheetah print we’re used to seeing. If you can’t commit to a head-to-toe cow print, try an accessory like a bag or belt.
