Don’t wait

If you’re in a queue at the doctor or dentist, and you have to wait, don’t just sit around. Take the kids for a walk around the area. Ask the receptionist to give you an estimate of how long you’ll wait, and gets those legs and arms moving.

Get shopping fit

Next time you take the kids on errands, park the car a good way away from where you need to be. This will involve walking to the store and then walk back with shopping bags carried by everyone. With the addition of bags, everyone’s getting a bit of strength training in.

Turn it into a competition

If your kids are competitive, turn the challenge of getting fit into a competition. With the use of certain cell phone apps or a pedometer, each person can track the number of steps they take per day. The winner at the end of a week gets a treat.
