How to Keep Baked Goods Fresher Longer

With all the baking you’ve been doing to occupy your time, you probably have a lot of leftovers that you don’t know what to do with. The last thing you want to do is to throw them out or for them to go stale, but where should you store them?

Counter

You can store most baked goods like brownies and cookies in airtight containers for up to five days at room temperate. Muffins, breads, and pastries will start to go stale after two to three days. To keep the items fresher longer, tuck a piece of bread inside the storage container to regulate moisture. Baked pies and cakes will stay fresh in a covered stand or keeper went they are wrapped in plastic wrap for two to three days.

Fridge

Baked goods don’t do well in the fridge as they dry out, so you’re better keeping them in the counter or in the freezer. Store desserts made with raw dairy and eggs like custards or cream pies in the fridge.

Freezer

When placed in airtight containers, cookies, brownies, muffins, and bread will keep well in the freezer. You can also store pre-rolled balls of unbaked cookie dough in the freezer. If you want to grab just one item, wrap the treats individually in plastic wrap, then aluminum foil, and when you’re ready to eat them, thaw them on the counter.
